Case Study
From hosting assemblies and art events to staging productions and prize-givings, Kristin School’s auditorium is its heart and soul. But it was in need of a facelift.
When Kristin School approached us, it wanted to give its auditorium a major refurbishment – including replacing its (almost three decades old) set of seats.
But first, the Auckland-based school needed the funds and the framework to make its vision a reality. Kristin School needed a way to engage its alumni and community – to explain and endear them to the cause, and offer donors more ownership over their giving.
Kristin School already knew how successful the ‘buy-a-seat’ model of fundraising could be. But its staff didn’t have the time – or the resources – to manage this themselves. Not to mention make the process as slick, seamless and simple as possible.
So, we developed a platform where donors can select – and purchase – a seat in the auditorium. This seat will bear a personalised plaque to recognise the patron’s generosity. And their commitment to the school’s future.
By simply heading to Kristin School’s dedicated Buy-a-Seat website, donors can view an interactive seating plan of the school’s revamped auditorium. They can see which seats have already been snapped up, and which are available – then take their pick.
Following that, Kristin School’s patrons can pen and preview a personal inscription to their seat – be it their name, a dedication to someone else, or in memory of a loved one – before securely checking out.
Needless to say, it was a hit.
Within one day of launching its Buy-a-Seat site, Kristin School saw its community snap up more than 150 seats.
At the time of writing, just 47 seats of the 200 in the first eight rows are yet to be named – meaning the school has already ‘sold’ a staggering 77% of its best seats.
We can’t wait to see what’s next.
Here’s what Tash Bartlett from Kristin School had to say:
“Our Buy-a-Seat platform has the Kristin look and feel. It’s user-friendly, and resonates well with our community – letting donors personally choose the seat they want to honour their donation on. We’re very happy with the finished product.”
